MARK: FOLLOWING THE SERVANT
MARK
Mark is the one of the earliest accounts of Jesus' life. Though it is the shortest of the four gospels, Mark's fast-paced, to-the-point style offers a comprehensive account of Jesus' life. His quick and bold message offers us a detailed portrait of Jesus' ministry.
SERVANT
Mark introduces us to the Servant-Messiah, the One who is always on the move, serving others. The One who "did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many" (Mark 10:45).
AUTHORITY
Mark's gospel illustrates the compassion, authority, and power of God through the many miracles Jesus performed. And it provides undeniable proof that Jesus is the Son of God and promised Messiah.
HUMANITY
Mark's gospel gives a glimpse of Jesus' humanity recorded through Jesus' emotions, frustrations, and fears and shows that Jesus can relate to our own feelings, like despair, rejection, and sorrow.
FOLLOW
"Follow Me" (1:17). This command sets the premise for the whole book. Mark's gospel teaches us what it means to follow Jesus and how to be a servant. It encourages us to continue following even when times get tough and life doesn't meet our expectations.
